Nexus Report

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms; the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being” – Oscar Wide.

Drama is considered to be a direct expression of the human soul. Drama is easily one of the most relatable yet enjoyable forms of art. Since the olden days, drama has been used as a means to education, inform and entertain. Nexus, the drama Club of JNC, is our way of keeping this spirit alive. Nexus, is a team comprising of 11 members. We love writing scripts, improvising on our characters and acting them out. Each one of us is unique in what we offer, but yet are united in our mutual love for drama. The Nexus 2012 members are Medha, Nandita, Dalia, Mamta, Priyanka, Shaney, Ruqsaar, Sabha and Sanjana. The best part of our club is that every time we are together, we let go of our inhibitions and are not afraid to be ourselves. Medha’s accent imitations, Nandita’s impeccable impersonations, Dalia’s saas – babu serial type acting, Shruti’s soputh – Indian flavor, Prinyanka’s mime, Mamtra’s perfectionism, Shaney’s diverse acting skills, Ruqssaar’s advorable portrayal of characters, Sabah’s gentle yet credible talents & Sanjana’s polished and experienced acting makes Nexus as awesome as it is right now. Also we had wonderful actors like Neha, and Pooja who supported us.

This year we got several opportunities to showcase our talents/ it began with our ‘Dr. Faustus’ a play on the day of ‘English Parigna’. We participated in the ‘Independence Day’ Celebration, ‘World Aids Day’. Christmas Programme’ and ‘College Day’ the highlight of our year was when we won first prize in the ‘street play competition’ organized by the green Apple foundation last September.

Every experience we have when we come on stage, is more exhilarating than the previous one. Even though we try to add humour into every one of our plays, we love to experiment with genre’s and be different every time we perform. For us, dram is more than just an extra curricular activity. It has now become a way of life. Being in Nexus enables us to free ourselves from the Chains of practicality and reality. We can be whatever we like, whoever we like, whenever we like. We try to immerse ourself into everything we think, do & feel on stage. Also, the fact that we have some of the coolest teachers in JNC guiding and advising us is on our way, we feel free to experiment and achieve more than our potential. But above all, our main aims to have as much fun as possible. After all, college days come only once in our life and we are all set to make the most of it.
