On the 1st of August 2024, the French club "La Lumière" held its first assembly on French Republic Day. The assembly began with an introduction to Bastille Day and concluded with a sense of pride as the French national anthem, "La Marseillaise," was played. Additionally, the French art committee created a model of the Eiffel Tower and set up a photo booth, which was widely used and engaged with by both the students and staff, enhancing the festive atmosphere of the event.
On August 19th, La Lumière was exclusively invited to St. Joseph’s University for an event called Elixir. The French club of SJU, Rendez-vous, warmly welcomed the guests. The entire experience was conducted in French, promoting a literary atmosphere throughout the event. The club performed a short skit demonstrating the storming of the Bastille, highlighting the historical significance of the day. It was indeed a great experience that allowed the club to connect with individuals who share similar interests while also opening up new ideas and opportunities for the club.
The Dumb Charades competition marked the debut event organized by La Lumière. The club hosted Dumb Charades event open to both 1st and 2nd PUC students across all streams. This engaging event combined learning with fun, bringing students together to enhance their language skills in an enjoyable setting. The grand finale took place on the 24th of August, marking a memorable conclusion to this enriching experience.
In celebration of Bastille Day, two exciting events were conducted on October 5th, highlighting French culture and creativity among students. La lumière hosted an exclusive individual event for French students, Eclair de Mode, themed Bastille Day, celebrating French culture and historical pride through fashion. Participants showcased their creativity by embodying the spirit of the French Revolution. The event highlighted the elegance and essence of French heritage, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended this event.
L'Arène des Vendeurs (The Vendor's Arena) was an exciting inter-class event where teams of 2-5 students set up a variety of game stalls, food booths, accessory stalls, and interactive stations. The bustling marketplace atmosphere allowed students to showcase creativity, entrepreneurial skills, and teamwork, drawing enthusiastic crowds and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. The participants brought the vendor arena to life with their innovative ideas and teamwork, making their stalls crowd favorites.
