Moral philosophy classes aim to foster the holistic development of students by instilling values and addressing the challenges they encounter during adolescence. These classes help students distinguish between right and wrong and develop a robust ethical framework to guide their decisions and actions. They promote critical thinking about moral dilemmas and encourage thoughtful reasoning behind ethical choices. Through the cultivation of virtues such as honesty, compassion, responsibility, and respect, these classes play a significant role in shaping character, which is vital for both personal and professional growth. More than just imparting knowledge, moral philosophy nurtures the whole person, equipping students to face life’s challenges with integrity and contribute positively to society.
This academic year, the moral philosophy committee not only conducted weekly classes during the designated moral philosophy hour but also organized several impactful talks by esteemed resource persons.
Mrs. Josephine D’votta, the college counsellor, conducted a session titled “Moving from Passivity to the Here and Now,” emphasizing the importance of respect and demonstrating respect for all.
Mrs. Sunitha, a divine teacher and healer from the Mind Scan Global Wellness initiative, led a session on “Feminine Wellness,” highlighting the role of breathing in addressing feminine health issues. She also taught breathing techniques to both faculty and students.
Mrs. Ashwini N.V, founder and director of the MUKTHA Foundation, delivered a session on child sexual abuse, raising awareness and educating students on the subject. In addition to these talks, several career development sessions were also organized to support students' professional aspirations.
