Annadana is an outreach programme organised by St . Antony Friary church, where the less privileged are provided with a wholesome mid-day meal. Students and union members render their service to this mission every week by serving food to the needy wrapping smiles on their faces.
On July 10, 2024, the AICUF office bearers were officially invested into their respective positions. President – Candace Saldanha, Vice President - Anne Reeja A, Secretary – Sharin Natly M and Joint Secretary - Maria Joyce The coordinators:Mrs Jasmin Anthony and Ms Jennifer A, badged and sashed the office bearers,symbolising their new role and title. The event was a blend of, honour, and personal gratitude, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
This year, Project Glory began on August 5, 2024, and now runs every Monday and Thursday. The program focuses on collecting food items to distribute to hardworking BBMP workers, the less privileged, traffic police, drivers, and others in need, encouraging students to learn the value of sharing with the less fortunate.
On August 6, 2024, a clothing donation drive was held, encouraging students to donate their gently used clothes to a cloth bank managed by an NGO, where individuals in need can access them. The students experienced great joy in realizing they could make a difference in ways they hadn’t considered before.
On September 11, 2024, a food drive was held to gather donations for an orphanage , The Little Sisters of the Poor. Each class participated enthusiastically, contributing their assigned food items. The students found great joy in giving, realizing the impact their small acts of kindness could make in the lives of others. This experience fostered a sense of compassion and unity, as they came together to support a meaningful cause. The drive reminded everyone involved of the deep satisfaction that comes from sharing with those in need.
On September 19, 2024, students, accompanied by Ms. Lizzy, visited Gerezim Orphanage with the aim of building connections with the children there and offering support, however small it might be. The students spent time interacting with the children, engaging in conversations, playing games, and sharing stories, creating moments of warmth and joy. They brought along small gifts and essentials, hoping to brighten the children’s day and show their care. The experience was deeply humbling. It offered them valuable insights into the lives of those facing different challenges and reminded them of the importance of empathy and compassion. This experience was not only a memorable learning opportunity but also an emotional journey that encouraged the students to carry forward the spirit of giving and kindness.
On September 29, 2024, students, accompanied by Ms. Jasmin and the AICUF union, visited Augustine Nivas, an old age home. The visit was a heartwarming experience as the students spent quality time with the residents, who reminded them of their own grandparents. They shared stories, sang songs, and exchanged laughter, creating a joyful atmosphere that bridged generations. The students were moved by the life stories and wisdom of the elderly residents, realizing the depth of experience and resilience they held. The visit left the students with a deep sense of respect and appreciation for the elderly. For many, it was an emotional reminder of the importance of caring for and connecting with older generations. It was an enriching experience that fostered empathy, kindness, and a newfound understanding of the value of family bonds and respect for elders.
The AICUF Orientation was held on 30th of September 2024. This programme provided students with an in-depth introduction to AICUF and its various activities. Speakers Shaik Salman (State AICUF Coordinator), Jassica Sharal Santhmayor (National Team Member of the AICUF State Council), and Kaitlyne Joseph (National Commission Member of the AICUF State Council) led an engaging session. Through interactive discussions and questionnaires, they helped students feel welcomed and gain a deeper understanding of AICUF’s core values, roots, and objectives.
