Special Assembly

The celebrations began on 14th July with a special assembly. Students were introduced to Bastille Day through a short speech in both French and English. The college was decorated by Atelier, the French art committee, to mark the occasion, adding to the festive spirit on campus.

The assembly also featured Lumivoix, the French choir, performing Écrit sur le Mur and La Marseillaise, the French national anthem. The Thought for the Day was also spoken in French throughout the week, giving everyone a glimpse of the language.

Vive la mode

On 15th July, the French Council brought fashion to life with Vive la Mode, a vibrant French-inspired fashion competition celebrating style, creativity and confidence. Participants turned heads with their unique outfits, statement accessories and lively presentations, blending elegance with their own personal flair. From chic and classic looks to bold and creative ensembles, the competition was a colourful showcase of Individuality, imagination and the spirit of French fashion.

Devinez

On 16th July, Devinez, a lively French-themed game of dumb charades, turned up the fun and excitement! Participants put their creativity, quick thinking and teamwork to the test as they acted, guessed and decoded their way through a series of challenging prompts. With enthusiastic performances, hilarious guesses and plenty of team spirit, Devinez made for a truly engaging and memorable competition! Winners:

A Table

The final event, À Table! - French Food Challenge, was held on 24th July, A bringing the celebrations to a delicious finale! Participants put their knowledge to the test by identifying a variety of French dishes and food items, making it a fun-filled challenged packed with excitement, learning, and a taste of French cuisine!

Bastille Week

La Lumière, The French Club celebrated Bastille Day with a week of fun activities that provided students an interactive way to experience the language and culture of France.
The celebrations began on 14th July with a special assembly. Students were introduced to Bastille Day through a short speech in both French and English. The college was decorated by Atelier, the French art committee, to mark the occasion, adding to the festive spirit on campus. The assembly also featured Lumivoix, the french choir, performing Écrit sur le Mur and La Marseillaise, the French national anthem. The Thought for the Day was also spoken in French throughout the week giving everyone a glimpse of the language.
On 15th July, the french council organised Vive la Mode, a French inspired fashion event where participants showcased their creativity and confidence through their outfits, accessories and presentations.
On 16th July, Devinez, a French themed game of dumb charades, challenged participants to think creatively while working together in a fun and engaging competition.
A student marketplace was organised as part of the celebrations on the 17th of July. Students put up stalls selling a variety of items, including books, homemade food, baked goodies, crochet products, pipe cleaner art, air-dry clay creations, bracelets, charms and other handmade crafts. The variety of stalls added a lively atmosphere and was well received by students and staff alike.
The final event, À Table!, French Food Challenge, was held on 24th July. Participants tested their knowledge by identifying different French dishes and food items, making it both a fun competition and a chance to learn more about French cuisine.
The Bastille Day celebrations were a memorable experience for everyone involved. The enthusiastic participation of students, along with the support of the faculty and management, made the events a great success and helped promote a deeper appreciation for French culture and language on campus.
