15th August is a doubly special day at Jyoti Nivas PU College as we not only celebrate our nation's Independence Day, but also the Foundation Day of the institution. This year marks the completion of 182 years since the inception of The Society of Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes, as well as the beginning of the 60th year of JNC.
The day began with the Guard of Honour presented by the NCC cadets of JNC, the hoisting of the national flag, and the singing of the national anthem.
To commemorate the occasion of Foundation Day, a timeline of events, from the 6 sisters that found their calling in 1843, to the society of sisters that has made its mark in several countries today, was creatively presented by Nexus, the drama team. The SJT sisters were individually felicitated for their years of dedicated service.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Guest, Wing Commander Lalitha Akhilesh Mishra S (Indian Air Force), and the Guest of Honour, Mrs Padmashree Balaram, an environmentalist and social activist, each delivered moving and inspiring speeches on the subject of nation building and the power of youth to serve the country in different ways.
The NCC Cadets then set the stage on fire with their tribute to the three uninformed services - Army, Navy, and Air Force. This was followed by a cultural extravaganza, with stunning performances from the various cultural teams.
